Machine Operator
Location: Pro Outdoor – Lake St Louis, MO. (On-site)

Salary: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Position Overview
The Machine Operator is a safety-conscious, skilled professional responsible for operating heavy equipment, including mini excavators, skid steers, trenchers, and other machinery. This role ensures efficient and safe operation while complying with company and industry standards.
This is a career-focused position with opportunities for skill development and long-term growth. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in operating heavy equipment and a willingness to be cross-trained as a Commercial Service Technician.

Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Site Work
- Operate and maintain mini excavators, skid steers, trenchers, and other heavy equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and project specifications
- Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs
- Follow all OSHA safety protocols and company regulations
- Monitor ground conditions and adjust operations accordingly to avoid damage to utilities or structures
- Load and transport materials, equipment, and debris as needed
Irrigation & Commercial Service Technician Duties
- Assist with pre-installation and service of lawn sprinkler systems
- Troubleshoot and repair leaks, valves, controllers, system wiring, and other irrigation components
- Install timers, controllers, and rain sensors
- Work directly with customers to ensure systems function efficiently and meet expectations
Job Site Coordination & Reporting
- Work closely with supervisors, laborers, and project managers to complete tasks on schedule
- Maintain accurate records of machine hours, maintenance, and job site conditions
- Report equipment malfunctions, hazards, or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of experience in landscape irrigation installation or heavy equipment operation
- Proven ability to operate mini excavators, skid steers, trenchers, and similar equipment
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and site plans
- Strong knowledge of irrigation system installation and components
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Preferred
- Experience with vibratory plows, pipe pullers, and trenching/boring equipment
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, listen, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
